Baipenzhu River is one of the major tribuaries of East River which was formely choosen as a pilot. As East River is huge with a drainage area of 35340 km2, data is not available for the whole catchment, so not feasible for science study. Flooding has been very serious for the past decades in the Baipenzhu catchment which sits in one of the 3 storm regions in Guangdong Province in southern China, but drought is also a problem. For this reason the Baipenzhu dam was built for both flood and drought mitigation. LUC change induced by forestry is also an issue. Hydrological Data from 1985 is ready.
